So !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that may save the diesel car industry, can they be trusted?

Let’s hope so, this may be a turn in the right direction in cleaning up and finding a way to make diesels even more efficient than they already are. Hopefully this doesn’t harm fuel economy as badly as previous emissions attempts have. Especially if fuel prices keep creeping up as they have been (at least where I live) it will be nice to see some developments that are going to move us forward in saving money since it seems that battery tech hasn’t advanced much in recent (although in general EV’s are new tech) time. The cleaner we can make internal combustion engines and more efficient we can make them, the better.

I still think there’s room for something like a Diesel-powered Volt and it could make an already diverse and efficient idea into an even better one. Maybe in a more appealing package.

Exactly what I was going to get into here, but didn’t think it would work with the post.

A diesel generator onboard an electric car would be the ideal packaging. You can run the diesel at minimal RPM to power up the battery just sipping diesel, utilize regenerative braking, and be more efficient than anything on the road.

It sounds like what they are doing is using more computing power, and a greater use of the EGR to keep EGT’s up above 200 (c?) to keep Nox emissions in check in city driving. I guess the system still uses AdBlue, DPF and the like but just works harder to keep the exhaust temps high in stop and go to reduce Nox

Exactly

I don’t think they will ever be able to move away from using some form of DEF to clean the filter for now, some just use high exhaust heat on the older systems but that means dumping more fuel into the engine.

As long as there isn’t a reduction in power or overall efficiency I’m happy.

Also a fuel source that is better suited for sitting for long periods of times between uses, unlike ethanol gas.

That to.

I have 7 cars around my house that are typically left unused because...I mean I can’t drive 7 cars at a time, fortunately one is diesel so I’m not worried about that, the rest have stabilizer in them to try and keep the fuel okay
